John Cecil Hope D.S.O., M.C.
Lieut. Col.
John left Eton in 1932. He was the son of Lt. Co. Sir John Augustus Hope, Bt., O.B.E., M.P. and the Hon Lady Mary Hope, daughter of Sit Alexander Hugh Bruce. He died on 24 April 1945 aged 32 and is remembered at Argenta Gap War Cemetery, Italy. He was a member of the KRR, service no 126473.
Ronald Bolton Littledale D.S.O.
Lieut Co.
Ronald left Eton in 1920. He died while serving in the KRR (service no 25378) on 1 September 1944 and is remembered at Airaines Communal Cemetery near Abbeyville
Ronald Edmond Balfour
Major
Ronald left Eton in 1922. He was the son of Lt. Col. Kenneth Robert Balfour and May Eleanor of Marlow in Buckinghamshire. He joined the KRR, service no 177838 and died on 10 March 1945 aged 41. He is remembered at Reichswald Forest Cemetery. He lies along with over 7,000 other soldiers and airmen whose graves were brought from other cemeteries in the surrounding areas to make Reichswald the largest Commonwealth War Grave in the country.
Frank Henry Wheate Barnett
Major
Frank left Eton in 1925. He was the son of Col. George Henry Barnett, C.M.G., D.S.O., and Mary Dorothea. He married Julia Ysobel of Eton. He served in the KRR no. 37937, and died on the 2 or 3 of Jun 1940. He lied with over 1,000 men from the WW1 and WW2 + over 4,000 who have no known resting place and are remembered on the Memorial.
Peter Charles Blundell D.S.O.
Major
Charles left Eton in 1932. He attended Trinity College, Oxford and Yale University. He was the son of Frank and Florence. He fought in the KRR no 79282 and died on 3 November 1942 aged 29. He is remembered at El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt.
Patrick Rupert Slingsby Chaplin
Major
Patrick left Eton in 1928. He was commissioned into the KRR service no 47545. Patrick died on 1 June 1942 aged 31 and is remembered at Alemein Memorial.
Benjamin Victor Cherry
Major
Benjamin left Eton in 1915. He was a member of the KRR no 13740 and was a recipient of the M.C. He was the son of Sir Benjamin Lennard Cherry, LL. B., and Lady Cherry, nee Gamlen. Sir Benjamin (1869-1932) was a laywer and parliamentary draftsman. Benjamin during his service with the KRR was attached to the War Office, but died on 4 October 1940 and is remembered on the Memorial at Golders Green Crematorium.
Hon. Thomas David Freeman-Mitford
Major
Left eton in 1929.He was the son of David Betram Ogilvy Freeman-Mitford, 2nd Baton Redesdale and Lady (Clementine Gertrude Helen) Redsdale. Thomas, like others on this memorial served in the KRR, no 70341. He died on 30 March 1945 aged 36. He is remembered at Taukkyan War Cemetery outside what was formely known as Rangoon.
Ronald Frederick Sugden Grigg
Major
Ronald left Eton in 1931. He was the son of Maj. R. M. Grigg and the Hon. Mrs E. D. Grigg of Sunninghill, Berkshire. Ronald served in the KRR no 94115. He died on either the 7 or 8 of January 1944 and is remembered at Ipswich Crematorium.
Alan Trevor Graeme Holmes
Major
Alan was the Necorth Scholar of Eton and Captain of the School in 1933, the year he left. He achieved the Gaisford and two Chancellor prizes at Oxford before joining the KRR no 73922. Alan was the son of Arthur Clement and Violet Mary Carteret Holmes (nee Martin) of Halesmere. He died on 22 November 1943 aged 29 and is remembered at Cassino Memorial, Italy.
Peter Charles James M.C.
Major
Peter left Eton in 1935. He was the son of Lieut. Col. Charles Ashton and Evelyn James of Carlisle. He served in the KRR no 71192. He died aged 27 and is remembered at Golders Green Crematorium.
David John Wallace M.C.
Major
David l eft Eton in 1932. He was the son of Capt. the Rt. Hon. Euan Wallace, M.C., P.C. and Lady Idina Wallace, nee Sackville of Petworth. David was the husband of Joan and they lived in Kensington. David served in the KRR and was part of the SOE, David died on 17 August 1944 aged 29 and he is remembered at Paramythia Civil Cemetery. David lies in the only Commonwealth War Grave in an old churchyard. David was an observer attched to the 10th Greek Div. He is marked by a memorial inscribed "Here rests amongst his guerilla comrades an Englishman, Major David Wallace, killed on 17th August, 1944, in the battle of Meninas. The soil of Greece is honoured to give shelter to this hero."
James William Fawcus

James left Eton in 1936 and like all the men on this memorial joined the KRR no 138923. He was the son of Lt. Co. Arthur E F Fawcus D.S.O., M.C., T.D. and Alexandra of Basingstoke. He died on 28 March 1945 and is remembered at Beichswald Forest Cemetery along with other officers of the KRR.
James Lees
Capt
James left Eton in 1938. He was a member of the KRR service no. 175078 and part of the Special Boat Service, S.A.S. Regt., and A.A.C. He was the son of Col. Sir John Victor Elliot Lees, D.S.O., M.C. 3rd Bt and Lady Lees (nee Pelly) of Lytchett Minster. He died on 9 March 1945 and is remembered at Belgrade War Cemetery.
Robert Patrick Perceval-Maxwell
Capt
Robert Patrick Perceval-Maxwell was the son of Maj. John Robert Perceval-Maxwell and Pheobe Laure of Downpatrick, Co. Down. He left Eton in 1940 and was commissioned into the KRR no 226390. He died on 5 December 1943, only 20 years of age and is remembered at Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
Henry John Alexander Makdougall Scott
Capt
Henry John Alexander Makdougall Scott of Gala (formerly Scott_Makdougall) left Eton in 1918. He sat exams for Sandurst College on 11 November 1918. He was the son of Hugh James Elibank Scott-Makdougall of Makerstoun and Agnes Henriett Jenkinson. He was commissioned into the KRR serial no. 12838 and died on 26 May 1940 aged 39 and is buried at Calais Southern Cemetery - a civil cemetery with Commonwealth War Graves in one section. He lies with 884 identified men from both World Wars. Additional information supplied by J Scott
Edward Charles Stanton
Capt
Edward left Eton in 1930. He was the son of Edward Alexander and Isabel Mary Stanton of Barrington, Somerset. He was commissioned into the KRR no. 50963 and died on 25 May 1940 aged 28, He is remembered on the Memorial at Dunkirk along with over 4,000 other officers and men.
Hon. Anthony Edmund Winn
Capt
Anthony was the son of Rowland George Winn, 3rd Baron St Oswald and Lady St. Oswald nee Greene of Billingshurst. He left Eton in 1927 and was later commissioned into the KRR no. 88146. He died on 26 October 1942 and is remembered at El Alamein War Cemetery.
Alan Guy Wormald
Capt
Alan was the son of Capt. Guy Wormald and Doris, nee Kindersley. Guy had served in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Alan left Eton in 1934. He was commissioned into the KRR no. 78833. He died on 27 August 1942 aged 26 and is remembered at Khayat Beach War Cemetery approx. 5km south west of Haifa on the road to Tel Aviv.
John Clement Armitage M.C.
Lieut
John was the son of Charles Clement and Hilda Caroling Armitage of Lechlade. He left Eton in 1940 and was commissioned into the KRR no 240134. He died on 7 December 1944 aged only 21 and is remembered at Phaleron War Cemetery, which is only a few kilometers outside Athens.
Roddison John Brewis
Capt
Roddison was the son of Roddison Douglas and Lilian Brewis of Wormley, Surrey. He attended Eton and was King's Scholar, leaving the college in 1937. As all the men on this memorial he was commissioned into the KRR no. 126471 and died on 5 July 1942 aged 23 and is remembered at Alamein Memorial.

Philip Evelyn Curtis Lieut Philip was the son of Maj. Gen. Henry Osborne Curtis, C.B. D.S.O., M.C. and Jean Curtis of Lytchett Minster. Philip left Eton in 1941 and was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 245320. He died on 26 November 1943 only 20 years of age and is remembered at Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy.
Victor St. George De La Rue Lieut Victor was the son of Sir Evelyn Andros de la Rue, 2nd Bt., and Lady de la Rue, nee Francklin of Rusper. Victor left Eton in 1935 and was later commissioned into the KRR, serial no 153350. He died on 28 April 1943 and is buried at Taukkyan War Cemetery, Burma. Taukkyan is the largest of the three war cemeteries in the country and is situated on the outskirts of what was once Rangoon - now Yangon.
Philip Henry Charles Denison Lieut Philip was the son of Capt. Edward Conyngham Denison R.N. and Maira Amy Brabazon Denison of Victoria, London. He left Eton in 1938 and was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 91396. He died on 14 April 1945 and is remembered at Durnbach War Cemetery.
Hugh Smiley Elgar Lieut Hugh was the son of Alfred and Eileen Elgar of Bournmouth. He left Eton in 1941 and was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 265716. He was awarded the M.C. and died on 18 April 1945 aged only 21. He is remembered at Becklingen War Cemetery.
David Thomas Trelawny Jackson Lieut David was the son of Maj. G J and Mrs N K Jackson of Titchfield, Fareham. He left Eton in 1935 and was later commissioned into the KRR, serial no 176361. H died on 7 December 1943 aged 26 and is remembered at Bari War Cemetery, Italy
Arthur Thomas Miller Lieut Arthur was the son of Arthur Gerard and Winifred Miller of Blackstone, Sussex. He left Eton in 1939 and was commissioned into the KRR no 174459. He died on 17 March 1943 aged 22 and is remembered on the Memorial at Medjez-el-Bab, approx. 60km west of Tunis.
John Henry Peyton Lieut John was the son of Maj. Sir Algernon Thomas Peyton, 7th Bt and Lady Peyton nee Dugdale. He left Eton in 1941 and was commissioned into the KRR serial no 256086, He was KIA aged 21 and is buried in Becklingen War Cemetery, nr. Saltau.
Thomas Grenville Pitt Peyton Lieut Thomas left Eton in 1939. He was the son of Ivor Eliot and Dorothy Peyton of Englemere Wood. He was commissioned into the KRR serial no 112912 and was attached to the Commando's. He died on 28 March 1942 aged only 20. He is remembered on the Brookwood Memorial, near Pirbright. Brookwood is the largest Commonwealth War Cemetery in the UK. and remembers over 3,000 identified casualties.
Norman Lewis Philips Lieut Norman Lewis was the son of Brig. Gen. Lewis Francis Philips C.B., C.M.G., C.B.E., D.S.O., and Margaret nee MacDonald-Moreton of the Isle of Wight. He left Eton in 1934. He married Elizabeth Margaret. Norman died on 28 May 1940 aged 24 and is buried at Calais Southern Cemetery.
David Frank Ricardo Lieut David left Eton in 1931. He died during WW2 but the date or his final resting place are not know.
Jasper Maurice Alexander Ridley Lieut Jasper Maurice Alexander Ridley was the son of the Hon. Jasper Ridley, J.P. and Nathalie, nee Beckendorff, of Marylebond. He left Eton in 1932 and attended Balliol College, Cambridge, before becoming a member of Middle Temple. He died aged 30 years old, leaving a widow, Cressida, on 13 December 1943 and is remembered on the memorial at Cassino, Italy
Roger Malcolm Colin Somervell Lieut Roger was the son of Maj. Arnold Colin Somervell, O.B.E., D.L., J.P. and Dorothy of Windermere. He left Eton in 1934 and was commission into the army, serving in the Scots Guards and the Border Regt., before joining the KRR, no 132178. He died on 3 July 1942 and is remembered on the Alamein Memorial
John Walter George Tyser Lieut John was the son of Walter Parkyns and Jessie of Gordonbush, Sutherland. He left Eton in 1941 and was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 256088. He died on 25 December 1943 only 19 years of age. He is remembered at the Athens Memorial.
Richard Patrick Warre Lieut Richard was the son of Felix Walter and Marjorie Warre. He left Eton in 1937 and was commissioned into the KRR, no 76102. He died on 26 May 1940 and is remembered at Calais Southern Cemetery.
Martin Stuart Willan Lieut Martin was the son of Brig. Robert Hugh Willan, D.S.O., M.C. and Violet Constance, nee Crabbe. He left Eton in 1936. He was commissioned into the KRR no 104269 and died on 25 May 1940 aged 21, He is remembered at Calais Southern Cemetery, along with Richard Warre who died the day after Martin.
David Francis Wyndham Lieut David was the son of Colonel the Hon. Everard Humphrey Wyndham. M.C. and the Hon. Mrs Wyndha of Oxfordshire. He left Eton in 1940, He joined the KRR no 217623 and died on 16 August 1944 after the invasion of Normandy and is remembered at Ranville War Cemetery.
Charles Alexander Wynne-Jones Lieut Charles was the son of Maj. and Mrs Charles Wynne-Jones of Dolgelley. He left Eton in 1935 and was commissioned into the KRR, no 73168. He died on 7 April 1941 aged 23 and is remembered on the Alamein Memorial. Ronald, brother to Charles also fell in WW2, on 13 January, 1942 aged 22. He served in the Royal Dragoons, Royal Armoured Corps., no 132569 and is also remembered on the Memorial at Alamein
John Raymond De La Poer Beresford-Peirse 2nd Lieut John was the son of Maj. R. W. Befesford-Peirse, R.O.A.C. and Mrs Beresford-Peirse. He left Eton in 1941. He was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 296758. He died on 11 March 1944 aged only 19 and is buried in Holy Cross Churchyard, Whorlton. He is one of only two Commonwealth War casualties in the churchyard.
David Wyndham James Colman 2nd Lieut David left Eton in 1940 and was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 207498. He died on 5 November 1942 and is remembered in El Alamein War Cemetery.
Desmond Lionel Curling 2nd Lieut Desmond was the son of Brig. Gen. Bryan James Curling, D.S.O. Officier Legion D'Honneur and Mrs Lilian Curling. He left Eton in 1938 and was later commissioned into the KRR, serial no 126472. He died on 1 June 1941 aged 21 and is remembered on the Athens Memorial
Peter De Putron 2nd Lieut Peter left Eton in 1939 and was commissioned into the KRR serial no 108026. He died on 10 April 1941 and is remembered at Tobruk War Cemetery.
George Robert Edward Napier 2nd Lieut George was the son of the Hon. Sir Albert Edward Alexander Napier, K.C.B., K.C.V.O., Q.C., and the Hon. Lady Napier of Chelsea. George was a King's Scholar at Eton and left the college in 1939. He was commissioned into the KRR, serial no 176927. He died on 23 March 1942 and is remembered at Golders Green Crematorium.
Richard Oswald Scott 2nd Lieut Richard was the son of Oswald Arthur Scott, D.S.O. and Hermione of South Kensington. He left Eton in 1938 and was commssioned into the KRR, serial no 95645. He died on 26 May 1940 and is buried at Calais Southern Cemetery.
