Brig Gen | W Scott Moncrieff | William served as a Brigadier General on the General Staff of the 156th Brigade. He had previously been commissioned into the 57th Foot, serving in the Zulu and Boar Wars. A wound received at Spion Kop, left him with a limp. In 1914 he was recalled from retirement and given command of the aforesaid 156th. He was killed when his brigade assaulted the Turkish position resulting in the losses of 72 officers and ove 1200 men. He was KIA on 28 June 1915 aged 57 and rests in Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery, Turkey |

Capt | Alan Izat M.C. | Royal Engineers | Alan was the son of Alexander and Margaret of Balliliesk, Dollar and husband of Jessie. He served as a Captain in the RE's 103 Field Coy. Alan died on 2 January 1917 aged 32 and is remembered in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension. Alan was awarded the M.C. |
