In Commemmoration of our members who have served their

King and Country

Those who paid the Supreme Sacrifice during both World Wars
W Lancaster Possibly ~ Walter Lancaster who was born in Stourton and enlisted in Leeds, joining the Princess of Wales's Own Regt. Service no 8251. He rose to the rank of Serjeant. He was KIA on 22 March 1918 and is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial.

J Ribchester Possibly ~ James Ribchester, born in Barnsley and the son of John and Martha who in 1915 were living in Leeds. James enlisted into the Prince of Wales's and served as Pte., 1989. James died on 6 August 1915 aged 23 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery
D Gill M.M. Denis Gill, M.M. was the son of Charles and Rose Gill and husband of Kathleen of Leeds. He served in the York and Lancs Regt., as CQSM no 4744930. He died on 5 January 1944 and is remembered at Cassino War Cemetery, Italy and lies with over 4000 buried or commemorated Commenwealth casualties.

J T Hayes John Thomas was born in Rochester, Kent, the son of John and Rosamond Hayes. he was one of 5 children shown on the 1901 census when the family were living at 17 South Grove View (?). He enlisted into the Princess of Wales's Own Regt., as Pte., 23425. By this time his parents were living at Low Road, Huslet and he was married to Mary Ann. He was KIA on 7 August 1916 aged 32 and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial. Mary Ann later remarried and became a Walton and possibly lived on Kirkstall Road.
